Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n

The end of the Great Patriotic War set the USSR leadership a large-scale task of reconstructing the destroyed national economy and subsequently increasing the country\u2019s production and defense potential. The fundamental element for the successful restoration of the economy was the national fuel and energy complex. The purpose of the study is to analyze the process of resource development in the Caspian oil and gas province in the post-war period of 1945\u20131953. Relying on documents from the Russian State Archive of Economy and the State Archive of the Astrakhan Region (a significant part of these are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time), the author examines the state strategy in the sphere of development of the Soviet oil industry in the post-war period and the organization of the oil production economy in the territory of the Caspian oil and gas province. It is noted that the plans set by the Soviet government to increase the rate of oil and gas production required the expansion of the territorial framework and volumes of geological exploration; updating the material and technical base; organizing efficient operation of oil engineering plants; mechanization and optimization of work processes. The results of the conducted research show that the measures taken in the extractive industry of the Caspian oil and gas province allowed maintaining the volumes of raw material production close to the planned indicators, contributed to the discovery of new fields and expansion of the map of oil and gas production developments in the province. However, insufficient capital investment did not allow modernization of production, the required volume of exploratory and production drilling, and the resolution of a number of logistical issues in supplying the industry.<\/p>\n
