D. Ushinsky

Abstract

The article examines the social composition of the stormtroopers who joined the Reichstag as part of the NSDAP faction. It shows the dynamics of their participation in the work of the Reichstag and reveals the reasons for changing the list of deputies from the SA. It is established that the degree of participation of stormtroopers in the work of parliament depended on the political role of the SA in different periods of the Nazi movement history. Based on the information provided in the Reichstag reference books for years 1928-1938 and on later publications, the article identifies the officers and leaders of the SA. Further, the list of 279 people is analyzed as to their origin, level of education, experience in administrative activities, and their occupations. The same criteria are applied to define the core members of the Reichstag who were related to the SA. It demonstrates how mandates were mostly issued to stormtroopers who worked in government structures, held senior positions in the administration of the SA, and stormtroopers who were especially important for the National Socialist movement as a whole. It proves that over time, a high rank in the SA decreased its influence on the SA troops and was an addition to their existing authority. It is concluded that German fascism used the membership of ordinary stormtroopers in the Reichstag for propaganda purposes, but kept them away from making political decisions.

Keywords: Reichstag, deputy, NSDAP, Stormtroops, Weimar Republic, Third Reich

Funding:

none

References

— М. — 635 с.
8.
