Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n

The article examines stable prepositional-nominal constructions (SPNCs) formed according to the pattern \u201cpo + Dat (sing\/pl)\u201d and functioning in the texts of official and everyday content of the Russian language of the 16th\u2013 17th centuries. The relevance of the study is determined by the lack of a systematic description of the lexical-phraseological continuum of the Old Russian language and the debatable nature of the linguistic status of such units. The aim of the article is to systematize and identify the semantic-functional features of stable combinations of this pattern in Old Russian. About 80 units and over 500 contexts of their usage, selected from historical lexicographic sources and corpus data of various types, have been analyzed. The SPNCs are examined according to formal-grammatical, semantic, functional-grammatical, and functional-stylistic criteria. As a result of the analysis, the main semantic groups are identified (temporal, correspondence, cause, modal), within which combinations of varying degrees of stability are distinguished: 1) SPNCs as realizations of open productive constructions (po sovesti, po pravde, etc.), 2) SPNCs as realizations of lexically restricted models (po nocham, po utram, etc.), 3) individual SPNCs not belonging to productive series, demonstrating semantic and grammatical transformation ((ne) po delom, po zdorovu, etc.). Special attention is paid to polysemantic constructions, which in different lexical-semantic variants can perform not only an adverbial function but also function as predicatives, parenthetical words, or prepositions. The obtained results make it possible to trace the origins of the semantic-functional transformation of such combinations, which led to the formation of adverbs, parenthetical words, derived prepositions, and predicatives in modern Russian that go back to this pattern. The obtained data can be used in historical lexicography, in compiling historical dictionaries, as well as in teaching historical lexicology and phraseology.<\/p>\n
