Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n

The poetic legacy of Yuriy Linnik (1944\u20132018), a Petrozavodsk poet, prose writer, philosopher, and religious thinker, remains understudied, particularly in regard to his sonnet wreaths, of which he composed 651. The subject of this article is Yuriy Linnik\u2019s wreath of sonnets Tryphon of Pechenga (June 23\u201325, 2001) from the poet\u2019s cycle Northern Thebaid, dedicated to Saint Tryphon of Pechenga, the founder of the Pechenga Trinity Monastery (c. 1533) on the Kola Peninsula. The main source for the wreath was a hagiographic monument dedicated to Saint Tryphon. The purpose of the present article is to analyze the form of the sonnet wreath, where the last line of each sonnet is repeated at the beginning of the next, thus creating the effect of an endless spiral to symbolize the eternal spiritual path and the continuous striving for God, allowing the poet to convey his intentions. Analysis of the sonnet cycle reveals that the wreath of sonnets Tryphon of Pechenga is a poetic work that masterfully employs hagiographic allusions and various stylistic devices to create a vivid and memorable image of the Saint. The classic sonnet form, rich artistic expression, and profound hagiographical references imbue these poems with great aesthetic and spiritual value. This collection of sonnets represents a deeply religious and philosophical work, revealing the spiritual path and missionary work of Tryphon of Pechenga. Using a wealth of imagery and artistic expression, the author addresses the saint\u2019s inner experiences, depicting his struggle with secular temptations and his unwavering devotion to God. Each sonnet reflects the key moments in Tryphon\u2019s life, which are described in detail in the saint\u2019s hagiobiography: his spiritual insights, missionary work among the Lapps, his struggle against pagan beliefs, steadfastness when faxing imminent death, and divine protection.<\/p>\n
