Abstract<\/strong>According to the memoirs of her contemporaries, Grand Duchess Anastasia Mikhaylovna, Grand Duchess of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, was a person who knew how to enjoy life. Her charitable work for her compatriots has remained largely unknown in Russian historiography. However, materials discovered in Russian archives suggest that such a conclusion is premature. Since a young age, Anastasia Mikhaylovna allocated part of her personal income to pensions for employees, scholarships for students, and support for charitable initiatives undertaken by members of the House of Romanov. After her marriage and relocation to Schwerin, she continued to assist her compatriots and maintained links with the 1st Khopersky Regiment of the Kuban Cossack Host, of which she served as patron. The Grand Duchess became the patroness of the Russian Society for Assistance to Needy Compatriots in Menton, and later of the Orthodox Brotherhood of St. Anastasia the Great Martyr, serving as its permanent head of council (1903-1921). She was also an active member of the Russian Orthodox community in Cannes. During the Russian-Japanese War, she took under her patronage a sanatorium for officers of the Russian army and navy in Wiesbaden (The Tsarevich\u2019s Shelter) and approved the accommodation and treatment of Russian army officers suffering from tuberculosis at the Russian House in Menton. During the First World War, the Grand Duchess also patronized a hospital in Cannes where Russian soldiers received treatment, etc. Thus, the discovered archival evidence indicates that Grand Duchess Anastasia Mikhaylovna remained part of the \u201cRussian World\u201d after her marriage and actively supported her compatriots both in times of war and in peacetime.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
