Abstract<\/strong>The article is devoted to the study of depersonification as a linguistic technique used by the author of a documentary biography for an image of a historical personality. The relevance of the study is due to lack of study of the phenomenon of depersonification in a documentary biography. The purpose of the article is to present a communicative-grammatical analysis of the biographical text, demonstrating how the author\u2019s strategy of deindividualization of the hero\u2019s image in a documentary biography is implemented using the method of depersonification. Special attention is paid to this method as an ideological mechanism that forms a reduced and distorted perception of the historical personality in the reader\u2019s mind. Based on the material of L. Danilkin\u2019s book Yuri Gagarin (the ZhZLseries, Lives of outstanding personalities), the research uses the methods of communicative-functional grammar, lexical units and syntactic constructions performing a depersonifying function. Three key conceptual models of depersonalizing metaphor functioning within the framework of the authors strategy are identified and described: \u201cGagarin as a product,\u201d Gagarin as a tool,\u201d and \u201cGagarin as a monument.\u201d It shows that the implementation of these models can contribute to the reader\u2019s comprehension of Yuri Gagarin as an impersonal artefact of the Soviet system. The study demonstrates that the use of depersonification in a biographical narrative does not allow the author o reconstruct the hero\u2019s personal traits, but, on the contrary, contradicts the objectives of the historical text. The analysis allows us to conclude that the strategy of Lev Danilkin, highlighting the biographer\u2019s subjective view of the first cosmonaut based on his personal value paradigm, leads to the replacement of the image of a historical personality by a construct created by the author, which deprives the documentary biography of objectivity, replacing scientific knowledge with the author\u2019s set of ideas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
