Abstract.<\/em><\/strong> The revolt of the Czechoslovak Legion against the Bolsheviks in the summer of 1918 provoked a large-scale Civil War in Russia. When the Legion entered Samara and started military actions in the Volga region and in Siberia, these regions were cut off from Soviet Russia. The article focuses on Simbirsk Operation, one of the key moments of the early stages of the Civil war in the Volga region. The author analyzes archival documents to reconstruct the military conflict from the point of view of the rivalry parties and to investigate the significance of Simbirsk for the Soviet authorities and for the opposition.<\/p>\n
