Abstract. The article focuses on the reflection of some facts and events from the history of Russian emigration in China in the 1930s on the pages of the emigrant military journal Chasovoy (“Sentinel”). Among the periodicals of the Russian emigration abroad in the 20th century, this journal enjoyed great popularity. Perhaps this is due to the content of its publications. Besides, it was illustrated with many photographs, charts and diagrams. At the same time, its popularity increase as it continued for a very long time, from 1929 to 1988. The purpose of the current study is to identify, analyze and characterize the publications of the magazine Chasovoy containing information about the Russian emigration in China, as well as to place emphasis on any particularly significant events and to find answers to questions about some dates and facts. The object of the work is the journal of Russian military emigration in Europe Chasovoy in the 1930s, the subject is the reflection on its pages of the history of Russian emigration at the time under consideration in China. The work is based on general scientific methods of collection, analysis and synthesis of material, as well as special methods, comparative-historical, systemic, and others. The journal Chasovoy is a relatively valuable source about history of Russian emigration in China in the fourth decade of the 20th century. There were not very many materials on the stated problems on its pages, but they certainly provide some information. Most of the publications referred to events in the life of the Russian military emigration in the cities of Shanghai and Harbin. Mentions of other settlements in China are rather rare. By the end of the 1930s, such publications in the journal Chasovoy had almost completely disappeared. The results of the study can be applied in further work on the study of the Russian emigrant press in Europe in the second quarter — second half of the 20th century, as well as in the consideration of the history of Russian emigration in China, with the restoration or addition of some new pages.
