Submission guidelines

Before submitting a manuscript, the author (co-authors) must ensure that it meets the requirements of the Bulletin of Ryazan State University named for S. Yesenin specified in this section. They must also read and accept the terms of the License Agreement (a public offer to transfer rights to use the work) and read and consent to the processing of personal data (completed by each author separately). The License Agreement and Consent to the processing of personal data must be completed, signed, and returned to the editorial office after the decision to publish the article in the Bulletin has been made.

By submitting an article for publication in the journal Bulletin of Ryazan State University named for S. Yesenin and signing the License Agreement and Consent, the author (co-author) agrees to its publication on the journal’s website, as well as in the Scientific Electronic Library (RINTs), the Russian Scientific Electronic Library, and the Metaphora Information System (RTsNI) under the terms of open, free, full-text access.

The Editorial Board of the Bulletin of Ryazan State University named for S. Yesenin academic journal requires authors to follow the submission guidelines.

Package of materials:

1. The article in Word format (doc, docx), in accordance with the style guidelines. For article formatting, see the Archive of Issues on the Vestnik website.
2. For postgraduate students and degree candidates, a recommendation from their academic supervisor, certified by the HR department (scanned copy); for postgraduate students, a certificate from the graduate school department (scanned copy) and a recommendation from their supervisor, certified by the HR department (scanned copy).
3. After the decision to publish is made, the editors expect the author to complete and sign a License Agreement for the right to use the scientific work in the Journal and a Consent to the processing of personal data in the journal.

Papers submitted for publication in the journal are required to have never been previously published elsewhere (under a different title, in a different edition, or with co-authorship) and must not be under consideration to be published elsewhere. Research articles accepted for publication must be consistent with the journal’s focus areas, written in strict compliance with technical requirements and academic ethics rules, checked for plagiarism (see the Publication Ethics section), and peer reviewed by independent experts (see the Peer Review Procedure section).

The journal will reject articles that do not conform to the technical requirements, articles whose originality is less than 80% as well as those that contain AI generated content (unmarked  or unjustified use). Such articles will be returned to the authors with explanation of the reasons, within 10 days of the receipt.

Electronic versions of manuscripts are presented as a single file including an abstract, keywords  (in Russian and in English), a complete text of the manuscript with references, tables, images, references (transliterated in accordance with GOST 7.79-2000).

The first page of the article contains the following (in Russian and English):

– the expanded Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) index and the unique document identifier (DOI),

– the article title,

– the full names of the authors,

– the name of the author’s (co-authors’) affiliation, city, and country

– an abstract,

– keywords.

– indication of the sources of funding for the research work that resulted in the publication.

After the list of references there should be personal data about the author (in Russian and English):

• full name,
• academic degree,
• academic title,
• position and place of work/study (in full, with the exact official name of the department, university, country and the legal address of the organization),
• government titles related to the profession (for example, Honorary Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation),
• sphere of scientific interests and research,
• e-mail address for fast communication.

The author must sign the manuscript to certify that the article has never been published before and the author agrees to the processing of his/her personal data. Manuscripts authored by a group of researchers must be signed by every author. Electronic versions of manuscripts are to be submitted in formats that allow electronic reproduction of handwritten signatures. Signatures must be scanned and inserted into documents (use *.tif or *.jpg).

The total manuscript must not exceed 40,000 characters with spaces (or 1 publisher’s sheet).

The amount of illustrations is calculated as follows: 3,000 sq. cm is equivalent to 1 publisher’s sheet.

The page settings are as follows: top margin – 20 mm, bottom margin – 20 mm, right margin – 20 mm, left margin – 30 mm. For the body of the article, use 14 point New Roman font style and 1.5 line spacing. Paragraphs should be indented 1.25 cm. the page numbers should be bottom centered.

The first page of the manuscript should contain a UDC number. The title of the article, the initials and surname of each author should be followed by an abstract and a list of key words.

The abstract should adequately present the content and results of the article. The recommended minimal length is 200 words. The abstract should be structured as follows: relevance and novelty of the study; purpose of the article; main provisions and results of the study; conclusions; and scope of application of the results. The English-language abstract may be a translation of the Russian-language abstract, but it can also be more detailed to provide readers who do not read Russian with a more complete understanding of the study and its results.

The key words and phrases must follow the alphabetic order, italicized. The number of key words and phrases must not exceed 10, each phrase should not contain more than 5 words. The key words must not repeat the title but should be found in the abstract and the body of the article. They should not contain abbreviations or acronyms.

We recommend to structure the article by dividing it into semantic parts using subheadings of thematic titles that reflect the content of the subsections:

1. Introduction which substantiates the relevance of the issues and the goal, research objectives and research methods. In the introductory section, the author may indicate the use of generative artificial intelligence in describing the research methods (as an auxiliary tool, during the drafting stage of the article, for collecting data for the study), stating the name, version, and developer of the AI tools used (e.g., GPT-4, developed by OpenAI, version …) and query templates.
2. Main body where the content and the structure are chosen by the author. Each sub-section may be titled so as to clarify its main idea.
3. Conclusion must sum up all the conclusions of the research.

Formulae should be embedded directly into your document file with Microsoft Equation, diagrams should be added with Microsoft Excel. Illustrations (schemes and diagrams) should be accurate and black-and-white. The resolution of photographs and images (tif, jpg) should be no less than 300 dpi, the resolution of line art should not be lower than 1,200 dpi in accordance with GOST 2.3.04-81 (Unified system for design documentation. Letters for drawings) (see sample 1986 pdf). Photographs, images, and line drawings should be embedded into your Word document. Please insert a caption 1 cm. below each figure (12 point Times New Roman font). Do not use abbreviations. Refer to tables and figures in the following way: Tab. 1, Tab. 2, Fig. 1a, Fig. 2a, etc. All numerals in the curves of graphics should be italicized.

 

Reference Formatting Guidelines

The publication should cite relevant previous works by the author and other researchers; whenever possible, a reference to the original source should be provided. Direct quotes from the work of other researchers should be set off by quotation marks and an appropriate citation. The journal will not accept articles containing plagiarism in various forms (incorrect borrowing, inappropriate paraphrasing, use of components of another author’s work), as well as articles  without attribution or a reference to sources without quotation marks.

The article must not contain excessive self-citations, friendly citations, or irrelevant references. Verbatim copying or paraphrasing of one’s own work is not permitted; it may only be used as a basis for new conclusions, and the author’s previously published works must be referenced.

Enclose in-text citations in square brackets, providing necessary data to identify the source in your reference list. If a document has an author, provide the name(s) of the author (authors), year of publication and page number (page range) if you quote from it: [Bakhtin, 2003], [Pakhomov, Petrova, 2006, pp. 18–19].

If a citation contains information about several sources from your reference list, use a semicolon preceded by a space to divide the sources. [Sergeev, Latyshev, 2001 ; Sergeev, Krokhin, 2000].

If a document has no author, provide the title (long titles can be abbreviated, add an ellipsis preceded and followed by a space to indicate that). [Philosophy of Culture … , 1999].

 

Reference Formatting Guidelines

References are presented in accordance with the requirements of GOST R 7.0.100-2018 “System of standards on information, librarianship and publishing. Bibliographic descriptions in  publishing and bookselling. General requirements”. In order to prevent reference lists from getting too complicated, we ask you not to duplicate the name (names) of the authors after the slash in data related to liability.

If a reference source has a DOI, be sure to include it.

When referencing electronic resources, please include the date of access.

The reference list in Latin characters (References) is organized in the order identical to the Russian version.

Sample formatting of references with transliteration:
