Abstract. For the first time the paper reconstructs an unknown page in the history of the Russian Abroad — the visit of philosopher V. N. Ilyin and socio-political figure A. I. Nikitin to the town of Vyborg to deliver lectures. The Karelian Isthmus in the interwar period is one of the territories of compact residence of Russians outside the
USSR, and Vyborg is a local cultural center. We show the low material level of compatriots abroad. The activity of the Cultural and Educational Society at the Vyborg Russian Real Lyceum is covered. We look into the history of the Russian Christian Student Movement in the pre-revolutionary period and the peculiarities of its activities in the Baltic States and Finland. The paper covers the main milestones of the biography of Nikitin, the secretary of the Russian Christian Student Movement. It also give a sketch of the life and work of Ilyin, the famous philosopher of the Russian Abroad. It characterizes the diverse educational and lecturing activities of Ilyin and Nikitin and restores the main content of the lectures they delivered to the Russian public in Vyborg: The misfortune of Russia and the path of its coming spiritual revival by Nikitin and Christianity and Marxism by Ilyin. The content of the theses is analyzed against the background of the works of Ilyin and Nikitin of the early 1930s in the context of the development of philosophical, social and patriotic thought of the Russian emigration of the first wave. The article is written on the basis of previously unknown sources from the Leningrad Regional State Archive in the city of Vyborg, the National Archive of Finland, and the archive of the Department of the Federal Security Service in
St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, which are being introduced into scholarly research for the first time.
