Abstract. Analysis of lyrical genres in synodicons (necrology lists) with certain literary preambles still remains insufficient. But study of synodicon materials can enrich our understanding of the uniqueness of Old Russian lyrical genres. The aim of the present research is to identify the specific features of lyrical genres in the literary preambles to synodicons, taking into account the established systems of liturgical and devotional genres in Old Russia. Such preambles contained lyrical and epic texts, and they may be considered in the context of these two fully-fledged layers of Old Russian literature. Lyrical genres played a special role in the synodicons. Close in spirit to liturgical poetry, they reflected the specific composition of the whole composition, where the textual part was closely intertwined with prescribed liturgical texts. Along with narrative fragments, and hardly inferior to them in their artistic merits, but using their own pictorial and expressive means, lyrical genres formed the didactic idea of a synodicon. The present article proposes a classification of such texts in terms of their genre and stylistic features. It analyzes the role of hymnography in the formation of the synodicon as a unifying genre. It proves that liturgical poetry served as a basis for synodicon preambles of a lyrical nature. The ideological and artistic system of preambles of various genres was closely intertwined with funeral liturgical sequences. The practical value of our work lies in the possibility of using its results in further study of synodicons with literary preambles, in the development of special courses and workshops on history of Old Russian literature, as well as in the preparation for publication of the texts of such literary preambles.
