Abstract. This article analyzes the preparation and organization of festivities for the tenth anniversary of the October Revolution in Vladimir Region. The authors turned to the study of the new festive culture, which in the first years of Soviet power acted as a powerful tool for the dissemination and rooting of Marxist-Leninist views in the minds of the population, becoming the leading means of legitimizing the power of the Bolsheviks. The relevance of this research stems from the study of the specific implementation of national directives within a single region and the lack of fundamental works on the research topic. The article is based on a regional approach and an analysis of archival sources from the State Archive of the Vladimir Region, most of which have never been used for scholarly purposes. The purpose of this article is to analyze the main areas of preparation for the “Great Anniversary” and to assess the holiday’s role in addressing the ideological work of the Soviet party leadership. The subject of the study is the organizational forms of Soviet festive culture in the province commemorating the anniversary of the Great October Revolution. The results of the study allow us to conclude that the celebration of the October anniversary became a truly large-scale demonstration of the achievements of the first decade of Soviet power at the local level. The authors conclude that Soviet festive culture served as the main means of spreading the influence of the new leadership, ideological influence and propaganda, as well as legitimizing power and strengthening trust in it among the local population, which was significantly facilitated by the expansion of the network of educational and medical institutions and other social achievements. The research materials can be used in the creation of modern generalizing academic works on the history of the first decade of Soviet power, and will also contribute to studies of the regional (local) history of this period.
