Abstract: The article defines the semantic features of ecological terms ecology, ecosystem, environmental policy in texts of electronic and printed media. The choice of the research topic is due to the fact that the environmental terms as part of a certain terminological system at the moment are very frequently used and yetremain insufficiently studied. The relevance of the topic is determined by the fact that attention of authoritative and young linguists scientists to the problems of terminology systems, their semantic and functional features is currently increasing [Abdullah Walid Latif, 2017; Guo, 2023; Kolesnikov, 2023, 2025], their word formation [Semichev, 1968], equivalence [Torokov, Arkhipova, 2024], description and definition in dictionaries and reference books [Lavrentiev, 2012], translation features [Zhabo, 2014; Ryabkova, 2022], etc. The goal of the article is to identify and describe the semantic features of environmental terms ecology, ecosystem, environmental policy in electronic and printed media. The main method of semantic analysis were the analytical method of observation of linguistic facts and their generalization, the method of semantic analysis, and componential analysis. In media texts, terminological units can transform the semantics, change their usual compatibility, acquire emotional, evaluative and gradational semantics. The analysis conducted demonstrates that ecological terms are also used in texts of non-specialized character, giving a thematic depth and reflecting an emotional assessment. These results are theoretically significant, since they reflect the features of semantics of terminological units in nonscientific texts. Their practical application is possible in the professional activities of journalists and publicists when working with texts on environmental topics.
