Abstract. The newly published letters provide significant information about the interpersonal relationships between A. S. Lappo-Danilevsky and S. F. Platonov. They shed light on the main issues of their interaction and rivalry over several decades. The correspondence was not regular, but long-lasting. The letters also reveal V. G. Vasilyevsky’s influence on the academic careers of his talented students.
