Abstract
The paper presents the relief and lithogenic base structure within the lower parts of the Konstantinovo Plateau, including its morphogenetic structure. The interfluve areas within the plateau account for 90,3% of the total, including their flat watershed areas — 23,5%, and moderately sloping valley areas — 66.5%; 0,5% of the river floodplains; 5,7% of floodplain terraces; 0,8% of gully bottoms; 2,7% of gully and valley slopes (including the Oka River valley slope). The research shows the features and development trends of modern exogenous relief-forming processes within these boundaries: landslide and erosion processes on the slope of the Oka River valley; sheet wash and fine-stream erosion on arable, moderately sloping valley areas of interfluves; suffusion-subsidence phenomena on flat watershed areas of interfluves; accumulative processes in the bottoms of river valleys and gullies; anthropogenic morpholithogenesis. Two landslide areas with a total length of 24.3 km have been identified, where large-block frontal landslides previously formed. The most recent stage of intensive landslide activity on the right-hand slope of the Oka River valley occurred in the early 2010s, when a large block landslide with a shear wall length of up to 70 m collapsed the valley-edge strip of the Vakino 2 (Borisoglebskoye 2, Romanovo-Borisoglebskoye) Settlement in the spring of 2012. A decrease in gully erosion processes has been noted over the past two decades. Within the plateau, in moderately sloping, arable valley sections of the interfluves, over an area of approximately 90 km², sheet and fine-stream erosion occur in the fall and spring after plowing (before appearance of sprouts). To the south of the village of Fedyakino, on the valley floor of the Oka River and Sosenka Stream interfluve, plowed up to the edge of the stream valley slope, these processes have led to the formation of slope-wise oriented gullies that are hundreds of meters long, up to 25 meters wide, and up to 0.3 meters deep. Near the stream valley slope, erosion ruts up to 0.5 meters deep have appeared in their bottoms. Patterns in the distribution of suffusion-subsidence depressions are demonstrated, and prevalence of mass material displacement processes, such as deflux, on the slopes of valleys and gullies is noted. In the bottoms of the gullies, due to the loamy material coming from their slopes, the process of accumulation of gulley alluvium, mainly loamy, continues. In the bottoms of the valleys of permanent and temporary watercourses, accumulation of floodplain alluvium, also predominantly loamy, occurs. Specific manifestations of these processes are noted within two geomorphological localities identified in this area.
