Abstract. The article analyzes the narrative models characteristic of modern media discourse, which are used by the popular genre “longread” in Russian Internet publications of social orientation. The aim of the present study is to prove that the choice of a certain type of narrative for a multimedia story is the most important stage in the creation of a longread, as it establishes a special type of communication between the author and the audience, makes the text coherent and helps the reader to deeply immerse in the material. Using the example of social longreads at the national media called “Such Cases,” the author shows several types of written narratives, each determining the maximum effectiveness of its informational product — a large analytical and/or artistic-publicistic text supplemented with various multimedia elements. In the researcher’s opinion, the analyzed narrative models (narrative on behalf of a journalist-translator, on behalf of an eyewitness journalist, or on behalf of an eyewitness who is a non-professional author) are optimal, as they contribute to the realization of the main task of social journalism: to draw the audience’s attention to current social problems, evoke appropriate emotions in readers, and convince them of the need to jointly find a way out of the situation. The results of this research have theoretical significance (the study of the nature and scope of the use of the longread in Internet projects on social topics), as well as practical application by media authors engaged in analytical journalism and publicism.
