Abstract. The paper reviews a monograph called The language and the world of Yuri Koval: attempt at linguistic analysis (Kirov, 2024), written by two scholars from the Vyatka State University in the framework of systemic-functional and cognitive linguistics (Department of Russian Language, Culture of Speech and Teaching Methods): doctor of philology L. V. Kalinina and candidate of philology A. A. Kalinin. The study once again confirms the relationship between the world and the image of the writer in the perspective of language as
a philological problem. The monograph is devoted to the study of the linguistic personality and artistic world of the writer Yuri Koval (1938–1995), presented from the positions of system-functional and linguocognitive approaches. The linguistic analysis of the writer’s individual language and idiostyle provided the authors’ reconstruction of Koval’s worldview.
