Abstract. The article discusses the field organization of the concept of youth. The purpose of the article is to describe the field structure of the concept, to determine the nuclear, central and peripheral zones. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to clarify the field organization of the youth concept. The material for the analysis was dictionary definitions, text fragments, proverbs and sayings, storylines from folklore texts.
The modeling of the concept is based on the following research scheme: 1) clarification of the main semantic characteristics of the concept of youth according to dictionary definitions and analysis of their linguistic representations in the composition of statements; 2) based on semantic analysis, associative relationships, frequency of use and degree of brightness of the key concept nominee, classifying the central components of the field and considering their hypo-hyperonymic, paradigmatic and syntagmatic relationships with the key concept nominee; 3) taking into account the proximity and frequency of associations with the core and center, identifying members of the near periphery and analyzing their linguistic representations.
The core is composed of the lexeme youth with its meaning “period of life from adolescence to adulthood,” characterized by rapid fluidity, high value and retrospective view. Core language representations are classified into four groups: 1) attitudes and ways of making sense of a given life period; 2) description of its characteristics; 3) rhetorical techniques for its designation; 4) narratives attributed to the time of youth.
The central part is represented by the lexemes “young” and “youth,” which have a high frequency and stable paradigmatic connections.
The near periphery includes concepts closely related to the core through associative and syntagmatic relationships: new, past, mineown, rememberrecall, spaceбand reflecting the cognitive mechanisms of understanding youth as a value, lost time and personal experience.
Keywords: conceptual field, youth, core, center, near periphery, Russian linguistic worldview.
