Abstract. The reviewed textbook belongs to the category of Russian as a foreign language materials focused on teaching scientific style of speech. It is intended for foreigners who aim to enter Russian universities to study engineering specialties. The textbook is designed for a B1 level of Russian language proficiency. Consisting of two parts (introductory and core courses), an appendix and dictionaries, it systematically introduces preparatory faculty students to vocabulary and most used constructions of scientific style of speech, trains them to perceive scientific speech (lectures) by ear. The introductory course includes lessons on technical drawing, mathematics, chemistry and physics. The eleven lessons of the core course are aimed to teach using scientific semantic and syntactic constructions. The textbook is complemented with dictionaries (7 modern languages) and aims to prepare foreign applicants for successful studying at a Russian university.
