Abstract. The few letters from E. P. Bogoslovskaya (the wife of the academician) addressed to S. F. Platonov allow us to substantiate certain facts of M. M. Bogoslovsky’s life in his later years. Most of the correspondence was written after his death and allows us to fully feel the loss that the scholar’s friends and relatives experienced. We find a lot of interesting information about the life of the widow, about the housing problems that arose for her, about material support, about the registration of pension and attempts to find a job. S. F. Platonov helped her in solving a number of problems. At the same time, these letters outlined the ways of preserving and publishing part of the famous historian’s creative heritage. Having made a memorial report, S. F. Platonov began to compose an obituary dedicated to his deceased friend. The fate of this manuscript remained unknown for many decades.
