Abstract. Scions of boyars and administrative servants (prikaz) were a significant part of church administration in Russia in the 17th century. The present study is devoted to examining Archbishop Anthony’s 1634 account book as an important source of information about the composition of the secular servants of the Ryazan Archbishop. The goal is to analyze the accounts in order to identify information about the representatives of the Archbishopric administration, as well as the functions that they performed as their official duties. The study identifies of the income and expenditure in the book, lists of the boyar scions who took part in the Smolensk War at the end of 1633. The documents found enable us to define the financial well-being of the boyar scions, their literacy level, their family status, the number of casualties in the Smolensk campaign, and other services that the boyar scions performed during that time. A comparison of data from the 1634 account book with other sources allows us to trace changes in the composition of the civil servants of the Archbishop of Ryazan in the late 1620s and 1630s and their land possessions during this period.
