Abstract. We study the poetic works of F. Chudakov as an ideological and aesthetic unity. He was one of the most vivid Russian satirists of the Silver Age, producing his work in the early 1910s and addressing the theme of Russian-Chinese contacts, which had been undeservedly neglected for nearly a century. We consider Chudakov’s humoresques On the plague hazard (1911) and Abroad (1912) in correlation with the socio-political processes taking place at that time in China, as well as against the background of other works of the satirist, which depict situations where representatives of two neighboring peoples cannot establish successful communication or reach complete mutual understanding. The study of Chudakov’s works about the Chinese town of Sakhalyan allows us to clarify the question of whether the author, who from 1909 to 1917 was under public police surveillance, and whether he visited the right bank of the river Amur (Chinese). But most importantly, we consider his works in the light of interethnic communication, which allows us to reveal their ideological and conceptual dominance. Analysis of the models of communicative relations between Russians and Chinese artistically reflected in Chudakov’s poems helps to highlight the causes of misunderstandings and dissonances arising in communication between the peoples of two neighboring countries.
